If ChkDsk does not run at startup in Vista.

If, inspite of your having scheduled chkdsk to run at startup, it does not run, then here is what may try !

It is quite possible that the BootExecute data value in the Registry has be changed or got corrupted.

Open regedit > Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

Ensure that the default value has been set at:

autocheck autochk * lsdelete

If not rt click on BootExecute and choose Modify.

Change the value to its Default, and click OK.

Alternatively, your autochk.exe file situated in the system32 folder may have got corrupted. See if a Repair Installation or a System Restore helps you first. A Repair or a SystemRestore can help you replace the corrupted autochk.exe file with a good one.
