| The Internet Explorer stores the passwords, which you have chosen to save, in encrypted form in the Registry. And as such, should you forget any and should you want to recover such forgotten or lost passwords, you can easily do so by viewing them with the help of this small freeware utility called IE PassView. With its help you can also edit or delete passwords. |
|
| IE PassView can reveal the passwords stored by Internet Explorer 7. It does not require any installation process or additional DLLs. In order to start using it, just copy the executable file (iepv.exe) to any folder like, and run it. After running iepv.exe, IE PassView scans all Internet Explorer passwords in your system, and display them on the main window. It can recover 3 types of passwords: AutoComplete Passwords, HTTP Authentication Passwords & FTP Passwords. |

|
When you type any text in the text areas of Internet Explorer, such as the address bar, search area, username space, etc., the text appears to flow from right to left side, instead of left to right. This happens if, you have, maybe, accidentally, pressed the left arrow key, while holding the Ctrl key, and usually occurs mainly with web pages, that run scripts. |
| To resolve this issue, simply hold the Ctrl key again and press the right arrow key. |

| How to Force IE to save passwords...again ! |
| With AutoComplete 'on', your IE prompts you whether to save the logon name/password or not. If you select 'No' your decision is recorded in the registry and you wont be prompted again ! But what if you change your mind ? Here is how you can reset. |
| Run Regedit > HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2 > See the left pane > select the Storage2 key > Click File > Export > Save the key to a safe location as SavedPassword.reg Now in the right pane, select all values & click Delete. |
| Now in IE, go to the site whose password you want to save. Fill in your details and then click to submit the data. Now when IE asks if it should remember your password, click Yes. |
| Come back to the Registry Editor. Click File > Import > Select the file you saved as SavedPassword.reg > Click Open to merge the saved data into the registry. |
| This way you will also have saved your previously saved passwords as well as the one you just created. |
| Restore IE7 file MenuBar Location to the Top. |
| For some reason, probably for aesthetic reasons, that standard top application menu bar is no longer visible, by default.. |
| If you like having it 'on' you have to turn it on yourself. But it shows on the second toolbar line over to the right hand side of the screen rather than in its familiar position at the top. |
| To put it back in its comforting position at the top copy-paste the following in notepad and save as Toolbar.reg and add it to your Registry. |
| Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 |
| [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\ Toolbar\ WebBrowser]
"ITBar7Position"=dword:00000001 |
