OpenXML is the "opening" up of Microsoft Office. the earlier binary format of MS Office is now available for viewing & working upon by anyone. This has been a long way for Microsoft when in 2004 EU recommended that MS opens it Office formats. there may have been licenses granted to 3rd party developers for building products but OpenXML makes it available to all the developers of the Microsoft Technology ecosystem.

This is a process which will sure take some time but the process is easy & you can save the files & settings so that you don’t need to do it again & simply use the old settings.

Web 2.0 is considered to be one of the best things to happen to the internet. Hotmail was Hot; and then GMail happened! This was a wake up call for MS as far as their online business was concerned and wake up, they sure did !

Microsoft has seen to it that you need to create only one account, to be able to sign in, and to use any of these services. With Live, they have brought everything together and that is what makes this experience really special !

Concept UI: Yahoo Messenger for Mobile Phones.
Submitted By : Saurav Srivastava, Microsoft MVP.
I was looking at the state of Mobile IM clients out there today, & it's not that good. None of the official companies such as Yahoo or Google or Microsoft are releasing mobile version of their IM Client based on JAVA which can be used on all phones. Yahoo has released Yahoo Go but it is not JAVA based which restricts it to only a few phones out there. Microsoft has Windows Live Messenger for Windows Mobile 6 but not for any other phone out there such as my K750i. Google isn't any different...The possibility of JAVA for Mobile is endless...

"MacOSX's Finder may look more polished...But Vista's Explorer is Kick Ass !"
Authored By Saurav Srivastava, Microsoft MVP.

In Windows Vista, by default the Pictures, Music, Movies, Contact etc are stored in the users own folder. However one can simply change the location of these folders to somewhere else like some other partition & still refer to them at the original location. Suppose one has "my music" on my E:\Drive. All one has to do is to go my user’s folder, right click on the “Music” Folder & change its location to that of E:\ drive. Now all Windows application whether 3rd party or Windows integrated will refer to the new location of E:\Drive. You are not forced to use Windows the default way, you can use it the way you want. You can change the location of Movies Folder, documents & pictures just like this. This comes in handy if you save your data on another hard disk or partition.

The Windows Media Player 11, in Windows Vista is a complete overhaul of the previous versions. The WMP is based on the DirectShow engine of Microsoft, which means all video and audio it plays is hardware accelerated & decoded as long as the graphics card is compatible, such as nVidia GeForce 6 & up series using PureVideo or ATI X1xxx series using AVIVO Engine.
