Vista's Program Compatibility Wizard. |
| If you are experiencing problems with a program that worked correctly on an earlier version of Windows, this wizard helps you select and test compatibility settings that may fix those problems. |
| Open Control Panel > Programs > programs & Features > Use an older program with this version of Windows. |
The Wizard will appear. Now select how do you want to locate the program that you would like to run with compatibility settings? The 3 options are:
"choose from a list of programs", "use the program in the CD-ROM drive" and "locate the program manually". Check one and proceed. |
| The list of installed programs will appear. |
|
| Select the OS for which the program was meant to run for, originally. |
|
| Choose the settings that are recommended for this program, or that previously supported the program correctly, from the options given. |
| If you cannot run the program at all, and you are an administrator on this computer, you will next need to select the box to run the program with full administrative privileges. |
|
| ALTERNATIVELY, You can simply right-click the program exe with which you are facing difficulty with. Go to its Properties; Select Compatibility tab; And Select The OS and other settings, and click Apply > OK. |
|
| Vista will then try to run the program, as its meant to be. |
