Windows Vista : Looking Back, Looking Forward !
 
January 30, 2008, marks the One Year Anniversary of 'Windows Vista General Availability' ! And the ride for Vista has not exactly been easy ! Some have enjoyed the Vista experience, while some have not ! But what do the facts say ? Time to have a look at them !

How has 2007 been for Vista ?

Sales of Windows Vista licenses have exceeded 100 million worldwide !

Also of note is the fact that Vista has been adjudged as the most secure OS yet, by experts ! Vista-based PCs are almost three times less likely to be infected with potentially unwanted software than Windows XP-based PCs. Vista has had fewer vulnerabilities than Windows XP during its first year in market. Another interesting fact is that Vista has had only 9 Patch Events in the past year while Windows XP SP2 over the same period had 26.

There are almost 50 Games for Windows branded titles on store shelves which have been tested for quality, compatibility and safety with Windows Vista. Over 2.5 million game units have been sold to date. Additionally, the majority of top game publishers around the world are committed to developing titles under the Games for Windows brand.

It is also predicted that over 16 million discrete DirectX 10 video cards for desktop PC’s will have shipped by the end of CY07. 2008 will see 60 million DirectX 10 capable video cards in gamers’ hands, and the next wave of DirectX 10 titles coming

To date, over 43,000 hardware products are now supported on Window Update, up from 23,000 thousand at launch.

Today more than 900 hardware partners have certified nearly 7,000 software and hardware products for Windows Vista that support new innovations in graphics, networking and imaging.

More than 120 critical enterprise applications now support Windows Vista, including from: Adobe, HP, IBM, LANDesk, Oracle, SAP, Sun, Tivoli. Top VPNs including Citrix, Nortel & CheckPoint. Top A/V including McAfee, Symantec, TrendMicro, etc.

All Top consumer and small business applications are compatible with Windows Vista. Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro, Webroot, Computer Associates to name a few ! Adobe Reader, Apple iTunes and Adobe Flash are all compatible today!

What should Vista users expect from Microsoft in 2008?

Microsoft says that there are great experiences coming in 2008 for Windows Vista users. Windows Vista Ultimate users should in particular, stay tuned!

The Vista Service Pack 1 will further fine tune the OS.

Further integration with Windows Live Services & Products.

You can even design your own, and change them as often as you’d like be easily adhering them and peeling them off. Other laptops include the Asus Lamborghini, Dell Inspiron and HP tx1000 tablet.

RED branded notebook and printer powered by Windows Vista Ultimate (RED) will give consumers a whole new way to buy products they want and get medicine to those in need in Africa.
